Latvian Language and Culture Summer School 2025

In 2025, the University of Latvia Latvian Language and Culture Summer School was held for the 11th time. Participants from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, China, Mexico, Finland, and Germany took part in two weeks of intensive studies to learn the Latvian language, culture, history, and society.

Latvian language classes were held in two groups: the A0 group (led by instructor Inga Laizāne) and the A1 and A2 group (led by instructor Līga Beļicka).

The summer school program also included a wide range of cultural activities: excursions around Riga, Cēsis, and Kuldīga; lectures on Latvian history (lecturer Sigita Struberga), folklore (lecturer Ilga Vālodze Ābelkina), and culture (lecturer Anita Smeltere); as well as a creative workshop with “Balsu talka”.

The University of Latvia Latvian Language and Culture Summer School 2025 took place from August 5 to August 18.
